Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. [ESV]

I kind of like how the HCSB uses the phrase "rotten talk." Is negative and filthy talk a benefit to others around us? Then why do we throw it out there? I think it's for attention, but without considering the type of attention it brings.
